Today’s translation of the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant describes the amount the servant owed to the king as “huge” and the amount his fellow servant owed to him as “much smaller.” The original Greek text contains specific monetary amounts.

A few weeks ago, in our catechesis on receiving the Body and Blood of the Lord, we learned the Doctrine of Concomitance. Concomitance refers to things that exist or occur together. In the Eucharist, whatever is truly united to the substance undergoing sacramental change is also made present. Therefore, when the words of consecration change the bread into Christ’s Body, His Blood, Soul, and Divinity are present as well. Similarly, when the wine is changed into Christ’s Blood, His Body, Soul, and Divinity are present alongside it.
