Dear Parishioners,
I am writing to explain an upcoming change to our weekday Mass schedule.
Last fall, I initiated a conversation regarding this schedule and explained the need to celebrate Mass on First Fridays prior to the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Eucharistic Adoration goes hand in hand with the Eucharistic Sacrifice; it is directly connected to it. This change was implemented immediately.
I also addressed the situation that arises during Advent and Lent. During these seasons, I am needed to assist with evening confessions at neighboring parishes, which unfortunately necessitates canceling our evening Mass on those days.
One final point I raised was the inconsistency between our regular weekday schedule and our evening Masses on Holy Days of Obligation and Ash Wednesday, which are celebrated at 6:30 PM instead of 5:30 PM.
Ultimately, we need a weekday Mass schedule that aligns with the theology of Eucharistic Adoration, fosters greater consistency, and results in fewer cancellations.
To this analysis, I must add the importance of offering opportunities for Confession during the week. A confession schedule limited solely to Saturdays does not serve everyone. Parishioners who travel, work, or attend to family commitments during those hours are left with no other opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Considering all these circumstances, I am proposing the following new weekday schedule:
This schedule will go into effect the week of July 6, 2026.
Thank you for your understanding, prayers, and continued dedication to our parish community.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Arturo
