For adults who did not complete their Christian Initiation during their school years, we offer an intensive, accelerated preparation program lasting approximately two months.
Candidates must be in a "state of grace" to receive the sacrament's sanctifying effects. This means there are no canonical impediments to receiving the Eucharist or Absolution.
Those currently cohabiting are generally ineligible unless they are in the final stages of preparing for a Catholic marriage or a con-validation of a civil union. In these instances, Confirmation is scheduled shortly before the wedding and is contingent upon the marriage proceeding.
Each candidate for Confirmation must have a sponsor. It is highly recommended that the Baptismal godparent serves in this role to emphasize the unity of the Sacraments of Initiation. This is permitted provided the individual is not otherwise prohibited by Church Law from serving as a sponsor.
